**Activity 1:**

To recognise numbers 1-5

Tip: Start with 1-5 and then increase 1-10.

It's really important for your child to recognise numbers a random order in addition to recognising them in order and rote counting. Prior to this activity it would be ideal to have numbers ready, this could be number flashcards, number puzzle pieces and to have something of the child's interest with numbers on. For example, toy cars with numbers written on a piece of paper and cello-taped on.

With your child count forwards and back wards from 1-10. Chant this throughout this activity.

I would then like your child to go on a number hunt. This may be within the home or in the local area looking at house numbers, street signs, buses, at the park, letterboxes, at the supermarket etc.

Using a phone/iPad I would like you or your child to take photos of what they have found with numbers on. If this is not possible, with your child I would like you to create a list of what you have found with numbers on.

Whilst looking at these items, question your child what numbers are on there.

Challenge them:

*What number comes next?*

*What's one more/less than....?*

*Can you find me this number somewhere else?*

*Can you write this number? *

**Activity 2: **

Using the numbers on toys which you have created. Place them around a room and call out numbers for your child to find.

*Challenge: What's one more than 3, can you find it?*

Using the toys with numbers, order the numbers 1-5 and challenge 1-10. You may do this forward and backwards.

Please send me photos and updates of your child competing these.

What did they find easy and hard?

Are you concerned about anything?

Do they need more support or do they need extra challenges?

**Activity 3:**

Here are some fun games to help practise the skills they have been taught in the above activities:
